Evan Wolfson: Wall Street Journal picks Evan Wolfson as one of 15 people to watch in 2005

The Wall Street Journal's online editors have highlighted 15 people to watch in 2005 — men and women who are set to shape the course of business, politics and world affairs in the next year. Freedom to Marry's Evan Wolfson is among the group. Here's what they said:

"Gay marriage was soundly defeated in 11 states in the November election. Opponents of gay marriage credited the issue with rallying conservative Christian voters, who turned out heavily to propel President Bush to re-election. Despite talk of more backlash against gay-rights efforts, Mr. Wolfson, who Time magazine named one of 100 most influential people in the world last year, says supporters shouldn't retreat on gay marriage.

Mr. Wolfson, a lawyer who has been pursuing the issue for 20 years and has been involved in some landmark cases, will lead the group's collaboration with organizations such as GLAAD, the ACLU and Lambda Legal. The goal: to secure full marriage rights in at least one state."
