President Obama supports marriage, opposes discrimination in ballot campaigns

Today, a spokesperson for the Obama campaign issued a statement about the president's support for the ballot campaigns to win marriage in Maine, Maryland, and Washington. The campaign has already spoken out against a ballot measure in Minnesota.

Today, Marylanders for Marriage Equality released a new radio spot urging listeners to support the freedom to marry at the ballot. Freedom to Marry invested $100,000 in the Vote For 6 campaign to support the airing of the new advertisement and a previously announced radio spot featuring NAACP Chairman Emeritus Julian Bond.

Beyond the necessary protections that marriage would provide, they know that Maryland is their home. "It's significant that our children were born here," Teresa said. "It's significant that this is where we've made our home. We are part of this community and we want to be treated equally here."

Mainers United for Marriage, the coalition working to proactively pass the freedom to marry at the ballot in Maine, released a new advertisement that explains that ending the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage in Maine would in no way lead to more discrimination lawsuits in the state.
