Next week, filmmaker and social activist Antony Osso will debut the sixth and final short film from his award-winning documentary series, The Devotion Project. The film will debut at the LGBT Community Center in New York City on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 7:00pm.

This week, a diverse array of voices have spoken out about the importance of the freedom to marry in Hawaii. An economic impact study and the Japanese American Citizens League agreed this week that ending the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage would positively impact Hawaii, fueling advocates for a big week.

This afternoon, the Illinois Senate Executive Committee voted in favor of advancing a bill that would extend the freedom to marry to same-sex couples across the state. By a vote of 9-5, legislators in the committee stood on the Right Side of History and took the first step toward making Illinois the tenth state to embrace the freedom to marry for all couples.

Today, the British House of Commons voted overwhelmingly in favor of extending the freedom to marry to same-sex couples in England and Wales. After a full day of debate on The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill, the House of Commons approved the bill by a vote of 400-175.

This morning, the Colorado Senate Appropriations Committee voted to advance a bill that would allow same-sex couples in the state to join together in civil union. Last week, the bill was advanced through the Senate Judiciary Committee. Now, it will be heard and voted on by the full Colorado Senate.

Last week, Public Policy Polling released the results from a survey of Minnesota residents of their views on the freedom to marry. The poll demonstrated that 47 percent of Minnesotans support the freedom to marry for same-sex couples, while just 45 percent oppose it.
