Last week, the Montana Democratic Party approved a freedom to marry plank in the official party platform. Now, MT Senator Max Baucus, who voted to approve the so-called Defense of Marriage Act in 1996, is applauding the decision.

Last weekend, Richard Carey kicked off his 53-day bike journey across the United States. He'll be biking to raise funds for Freedom to Marry and raise awareness about why marriage matters to same-sex couples nationwide.

Every year, GO Magazine, one of the leading lesbian publications in the country, releases a list of "100 Women We Love," a collection of out lesbian entertainers, athletes, activists, and politicians. Jo Deutsch, Freedom to Marry's Federal Director, made this year's list.

On Friday, Leon E. Panetta, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, released a video thanking gay and lesbian service members for their commitment to the U.S. military and acknowledging their service, particularly in light of last year's official repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

A new poll released this morning out of Maine shows that a strong majority in the state - 55 percent - supports the freedom to marry.

Although Paul and David's marriage is legal in Iowa and other states that recognize marriages between same-sex couples, the fact that Paul is a service member complicates the protections that the government affords to their relationship. The so-called Defense of Marriage Act forces the military to treat their relationship like a second-class marriage.

This week, the political parties in Indiana have made adjustments to their views on the freedom to marry in their party platforms. It's one more example of how people across the country are moving toward support for marriage for all couples.
