This week, a huge variety of voices have spoken out against the so-called Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8 in legal amicus briefs filed to the U.S. Supreme Court, including Republicans, the Obama administration, mayors, state-wide LGBT organizations, and nearly 300 businesses.

Today, Minnesota state legislators announced that they were officially introducing bills in the House and Senate that would extend the freedom to marry to same-sex couples across the Minnesota. The bipartisan legislation has intense momentum and will face consideration by both chambers of the MN legislature over the next several months.

Last night, February 26, 2013, the Illinois House Executive Committee voted in favor of advancing a bill that would extend the freedom to marry for same-sex couples across the state of Illinois. The bill will now be heard by the full Illinois House of Representatives.

When Juka Mendes moved to the US on a student visa, he never expected to fall in love. But he did, and got married to Air Force member Jonathan Malumay. Now, Juka can no longer afford his education, and in April his visa expires. As a service member, Jonathan is eligible for an education grant that he should be able to transfer to his husband, but because DOMA does not respect his marriage, he cannot do so.

Today, lawyers for Edith Windsor filed a brief to the Supreme Court urging the repeal of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act, which prohibits federal respect for legal marriages between same-sex couples.

This week, over 75 key Republican figures and politicians signed onto a brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. The brief will be filed in the Hollingsworth v. Perry case, which argues that Proposition 8 is unconstitutional.

On Friday, the Obama administration filed a brief in Windsor v. United States, a legal case that will be heard before the U.S. Supreme Court on March 27, 2013. In the brief, President Obama and his administration ask the Court to overturn the so-called Defense of Marriage Act.

"A lot of people think that after 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' was repealed, that was it - that everything was fixed," U.S. Marine Corps Captain Phelps explains in a new video. "But the reality of it is that the lives of the individual gay or lesbian service member was fixed. But repealing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' didn't change anything for our families."

Today, Jon Huntsman, former governor of Utah, U.S. ambassador, business executive, and prominent conservative politician, published an editorial in The American Conservative calling marriage for same-sex couples a "conservative cause."
