On Saturday, August 10, the U.S. Ambassador to Australia, John Berry, married his partner of 17 years, Curtis Yee, in Washington, D.C. The wedding comes as momentum for marriage builds in Australia.

This week, Sean Sasser, an HIV/AIDS activist who appeared on The Real World: San Francisco in 1994, passed away. In 1994, MTV televised Sean's commitment ceremony to Pedro Zamora, the HIV-positive star of the third season of The Real World who died that year.

Today, the freedom to marry took effect in Rhode Island, and same-sex couples across the state began to marry. One of these couples was John Gacher and Federico Santi, who both hail from Newport, RI, where they make their home together.

This morning, as the clock struck midnight and the calendar switched over to August 1, 2013, the freedom to marry took effect in Minnesota - and dozens of families across the state of Minnesota came together to celebrate.

March 30 was an amazing day for Jonathan, Dwayne, and all of their guests - a day that's hard to explain in words. Lucky for us - the couple hired a remarkable videographer, Celia Hilton, to capture the day for supporters of the freedom to marry.

This week, "Oregon Says I Do," the petition drive to collect signatures to place the freedom to marry on the ballot for Fall 2014 was launched, and the campaign smashed its own goal in record time.
