The answer lies in the Roadmap to Victory, the three-track plan for returning to the U.S. Supreme Court and finishing the job by bringing the country to national resolution and extending the freedom to marry to same-sex couples in all 50 states.

Today, the U.S. Department of Defense announced that the same-sex spouses of gay and lesbian service members will begin receiving full benefits and protections by September 3, 2013.

This week, Sean Sasser, an HIV/AIDS activist who appeared on The Real World: San Francisco in 1994, passed away. In 1994, MTV televised Sean's commitment ceremony to Pedro Zamora, the HIV-positive star of the third season of The Real World who died that year.
