At the end of the month, nearly a dozen musical acts, including fun., will join together in New York City for the Freedom to Love Now! concert. In addition to fun., the concert event will feature superstar performers like Rufus Wainwright, They Might Be Giants, and The National. All of the proceeds from the October 30 event will benefit Freedom to Marry.

This week, the Department of Homeland Security issued new written deportation guidelines for U.S. immigration officials that specifically clarify that discretionary relief will be extended to immigrants in same-sex partnerships or marriages with U.S. citizens. The memorandum clarifies that same-sex relationships that rise to the level of "family relationships" are long-term, same-sex relationships.

Election Day is approaching fast: There are fewer than 28 days until November 6, when voters in four states - Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington - will vote on marriage-related ballot initiatives. The voter registration deadlines and procedures are a little bit different in each state.

At Ithaca College in New York, Seattle resident John Vogan has partnered with Created Equal to host phone banks for Washington state every two weeks. Twice a month, John and Created Equal distribute posters and Facebook invitations asking students to talk on the phone with Washington residents to protect the freedom to marry for all couple.

This week, the so-called National Organization for Marriage announced that an anonymous donor has pledged two million dollars to support NOM's anti-gay efforts to defeat marriage at the ballot in four key battleground states on November 6. Because of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act, same-sex couples are deprived of more than 1,000 protections and responsibilities afforded to married different-sex couples. For Nathalie and Hope - and thousands of other binational same-sex couples like them - this includes the ability to sponsor your spouse for a green card to allow them to move permanently to the United States.

Yesterday, Freedom to Marry's Federal Director delivered a letter thanking the Democratic Party for adding a plank supporting the freedom to marry to their official national party platform. Nearly 35,000 Freedom to Marry supporters signed the letter.

In November, Washington residents will be asked to uphold the freedom to marry, for all loving and committed couples, a law that was signed by the governor in February. Colleen Ozolitis and her wife Lee Ann Martinso, who married in Canada six years ago but want to marry in their home state, are one of the couples who will be affected by the vote.
