On Sunday, September 29, the talented actors and creative minds at the Matthew Corozine Studio in New York City hosted a night of monologues and directed scenes about love, marriage, and same-sex couples to benefit Freedom to Marry.

The judge ruled in favor of the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in New Jersey, and unless the decision is appealed, marriages would begin in the state on October 21, 2013. Now that the lower court has found that the New Jersey civil union law is unconstitutional, it is imperative that the New Jersey legislature act quickly to pass a marriage bill.

This month, Patricia Todd, the first openly gay legislator in Alabama, married her partner of eight years, Jennifer Clarke, in a ceremony in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Since 2006, Patricia Todd has been serving in the Alabama House of Representatives.

This week, the Register of Deeds in Guilford County in Greensboro, North Carolina rejected marriage applications from two same-sex couples and issued a statement lamenting the anti-gay law in NC, saying, "I look forward to the day when I will be able to issue marriage licenses to LGBT couples."
