Fall TV lineup presents positive portrayals of same-sex relationships

When the Fall 2012 television season starts up again in a few weeks, viewers will be treated to more prominent same-sex relationships than we've seen in most recent TV seasons. In addition to a number of returning strongholds on shows like Glee, Modern Family, and Grey's Anatomy, this season will introduce two new series - The New Normal and Partners - with leading characters in same-sex relationships.
Young Conservatives and Log Cabin Republicans host brunch at RNC

This morning in Tampa, Florida, dozens of pro-equality young conservatives attended a brunch hosted by Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry and Log Cabin Republicans. The brunch included attendees of the 2012 Republican National Convention, which ends tomorrow in Tampa.
Record number of LGBT people will participate in Democratic National Convention

When the Democratic National Convention officially kicks off on September 3 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the LGBT community will be represented more prominently than any previous DNC. According to the National Stonewall Democrats, over 530 openly LGBT participants will be official participants at the event.

Last week, a new video advertisement began airing on television screens in Maine, which advocates are tirelessly working to make the first state to proactively win marriage at the ballot in November. The spot features Dan and Pat Lawson, a couple from Monroe, Maine that has been married for 30 years, talking about their twin sons, one of whom is gay.

In tomorrow's edition of The Tampa Tribune, a new public service-focused advertisement from Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry and Log Cabin Republicans will be published. The ad's publication is perfectly aligned with the Republican National Convention, which continues until Thursday, August 30 in Tampa, Florida.
Lawyers opposing Proposition 8 ask Supreme Court to pass on appeal

On Friday, Ted Olson, David Boies, and the other lawyers representing the gay and lesbian plaintiffs in Perry v. Brown, the court case challenging the constitutionality of Proposition 8 in California, filed a petition asking the U.S. Supreme Court not to review the case.
