A new poll from NBC Latino/IBOPE Zogby indicates that a solid majority of Latinos in the United States support the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. 60 percent of Latinos surveyed in the poll said they "strongly agree" that same-sex couples should be able to marry.

Yesterday, Washington United for Marriage, the coalition working to uphold the freedom to marry in Washington, released two new television advertisements that will begin airing across the state. Both of the ads discuss the role of religion in Washington residents' support for the freedom to marry.

A new poll out of Rhode Island indicates that a majority of the state's residents favor the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. The poll, conducted by WPRI 12, a Rhode Island news station, shows that 56 percent of voters support ending the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage.

On Friday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that the DHS will issue written guidance for U.S. immigration officers to ensure that discretionary relief is extended to immigrants in same-sex partnerships or marriages with U.S. citizens. The guidelines mark one of the first times that same-sex couples will be recognized by U.S. immigration policies

Last week, Jason Papanikolas, the chairman of the Republican Central Committee for Prince George's County in Maryland, published an editorial in the local Maryland newspaper, The Gazette. In the editorial, Papanikolas argues that Republicans across the state of Maryland should support the freedom to marry for same-sex couples.

A new poll conducted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University finds that support for the freedom to marry among people in Illinois has grown significantly over the past two years. The institute's data shows that 43.6 percent of respondents said they support marriage for same-sex couples.

In the New York State primaries this month, two Republican Senators who voted to approve the freedom to marry last year won their primary battles. Our opponents said they would defeat all of the Republicans who stood up for committed same-sex couples, but their failure shows that supporting the freedom to marry is not a political risk.
