As part of our new national education campaign Why Marriage Matters, we're telling the stories of gay couples to show that they want to get married for the same reasons as anyone: love, family, and commitment. Kate and Nicole say they're doubly lucky – because they found each other, and because they were able to get married in their home state of California during the brief window when it was legal.

Debate is currently underway. The Senate has already passed the bill and the Governor has promised to sign it, so this could be it.
