Gov. O’Malley signs marriage referendum, allows MD couples to apply for marriage licenses

This morning, Governor Martin O'Malley signed the necessary documents that will allow same-sex couples in Maryland to begin applying for marriage licenses. The marriage licenses will take effect beginning January 1, 2013.

Tomorrow, December 6, Corianton and Keith will join hundreds of other same-sex couples in applying for marriage licenses - and three days later, on December 9, they'll be among the first same-sex couples in the state to get married. This summer, they held a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony with their friends and family - here, they share their story with us through their wedding photos!
Jordan Roth and Richie Jackson launch $100,000 matching grant for Freedom to Marry

Now, you can make even more of an impact by donating - every donation from now until December 31 will be generously matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 by Freedom to Marry board member Jordan Roth and his husband Richie Jackson.
The freedom to marry will take effect in Maine on December 29

Last week, on Thursday, November 29, Maine Governor Paul LePage signed off on the certified election results for the state of Maine - including the result that, for the first in history, Mainers passed the freedom to marry for same-sex couples at the ballot. The new marriage law becomes effective 30 days after certification - on December 29.
