As reported on ontopmag.com in December of 2010, Ms. Furtado said she's proud to live in a country [Canada] that supports the freedom to marry. The 32-year-old entertainer and mother said there is nothing wrong with gay couples marrying.

Given that homosexuality was decriminalized in Ireland only in 1993, it might sound surprising to hear a leading US human rights lawyer state that Ireland is showing international leadership in the public acceptance of gay rights. Gay couples with civil marriages or civil partnerships must retain their rights in all European Union countries, the European Parliament reaffirmed this morning.
Currently, same-sex couples are not guaranteed to retain the rights given by their existing marriage or civil partnership when traveling in the European Union.

Most Australians support the freedom to marry, the latest Nielsen poll shows.

The poll, published on Monday in Fairfax newspapers, found nearly 60 per cent of people support equal marriage rights for same-sex couples, with 37 per cent against.

French court to examine legality of marriage equality ban

France's highest court of appeal, the Court of Cassation, on Tuesday asked the Constitutional Council to rule on whether the freedom to marry should remain illegal.
