Based on an earlier Supreme Court ruling saying all Mexican states must recognize a marriage performed in Mexico City, a lower court ruled last week that same-sex couples may register as a couple with the national social security system.

The department has announced that it is replacing the traditional parental designations on its passport applications (see above) with the more contemporaneously correct "Parent One" and "Parent Two."
