Today, Freedom to Marry is launching Southerners for the Freedom to Marry, a new campaign in partnership with 12 Southern equality organizations that will amplify the voices of marriage supporters in the South.

For years, George A. Rekers has held himself out as an expert witness in court on homosexuality, arguing in cases concerning the freedom to marry and gay adoption that gay men and lesbians lead dangerous lives and raise troubled children.
Now Dr. Rekers himself is under fire, raising new legal questions about his courtroom role.

Mike Huckabee appeared on Rosie O'Donnell's Sirius radio show Saturday to respond to his remarks regarding gay parents, adoption, and foster parents. You may recall that Huckabee recently gave an interview to a paper at the College of New Jersey in which he insulted gays who want to parent, telling them "children are not puppies."

Children need loving homes. Prejudice shouldn’t stand in the way of that. So it is welcome news that a state judge in Arkansas has struck down a pernicious 2008 state law that barred qualified same-sex couples and other unmarried couples living together from serving as adoptive or foster parents.

Jennifer Chrisler, Executive Director of Family Equality Council, responds to comments made by Former Republican Governor Mike Huckabee earlier this month that the country shouldn't "experiment" by allowing gay couples to adopt children. "Children are not puppies," he said. "This is not a time to see if we can experiment and find out, how does this work?"
