Later today, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal will announce a filing in Perry v. Brown, the case that revolves around Proposition 8, which struck down the freedom to marry in California in 2008.

Last night, a federal judge in Oakland, California ruled that the so-called Defense of Marriage Act, which prohibits federal recognition of legal marriages between same-sex couples, is unconstitutional.

Today, the Washington Blade reported that 22 senators have joined a growing number of politicians and advocates who have endorsed including a freedom to marry plank in the Democratic Party’s 2012 national platform.

Today, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling that found that Proposition 8, the state constitutional amendment that stripped the freedom to marry away from gay and lesbian couples in California, violates the U.S. Constitution.
