If a vote similar to Proposition 8 upholding a ban on the freedom to marry were held tomorrow, a majority of Californians say they would cast ballots in favor of allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry, according to a survey released last week.

Summer for Marriage hits Minnesota

In yet another successful day on the Freedom to Marry Summer for Marriage tour, equality supporters outnumbered NOM supporters as their “One Man, One Woman” tour bus stopped in St. Paul, MN on Wednesday. Even though NOM recorded its highest turnout to date—about 163 supporters of discrimination against gay couples—Minnesotans continued sending the message of equality that supporters of the freedom to marry have been sending all over the country this summer.

In the biggest turnout yet on the pro-equality Summer for Marriage Tour, 466 Wisconsinites marched through the streets of Madison, peacefully chanting their support for the freedom to marry. There were so many supporters there yesterday, you almost have to see it to believe it:

Yesterday, we launched a petition calling on National Organization for Marriage to end their increasingly hateful attacks against gay and lesbian families after a NOM supporter in Indianapolis proudly carried a sign calling for the murder of gay couples. Now comes this video interview of a young woman saying she was punched by a NOM supporter. The video is part of NOM Tour Tracker, a partnership between Courage Campaign and Freedom to Marry to document the Summer for Marriage Tour.

Sign at NOM Rally Calls for Murder of Gay Couples

Earlier tonight, Bilerico.com broke the story that at today's anti-gay National Organization for Marriage rally in Indianapolis, a NOM supporter called for the murder of gay couples. The supporter's sign states that the "Solution to Marriage" is that gay people should "be put to death" and quotes Leviticus 20:13 ("Their blood shall be upon them"). In case his quotation was not clear enough, the sign includes an image of two nooses.
