Washington National Cathedral will begin hosting weddings for same-sex couples

Yesterday, the Washington National Cathedral announced that it will soon begin hosting weddings for same-sex couples. The historic church is one of the first Episcopal congregations in the country to introduce marriage rites for LGBT individuals.

Today, we're celebrating the anniversary of the freedom to marry passing in Washington, D.C. by sharing 12 beautiful wedding photos from one of the hundreds of loving same-sex couples who have married since the law took effect in March 2010 - JaLissa Coffee-Sterrett and Janell Sterrett.

This Saturday, hundreds of people across the country joined together for the National Engagement Party, our fundraiser to win marriage at the ballot. The event raised $500,000 for the ballot battles, bringing Freedom to Marry's total state investment to $4.5 million for the 2011-2012 election cycle.
