The New Organizing Institute will hold its Roots Camp conference, in Washington DC on Dec. 11th and 12th.
The three nominees who have received the highest number of online votes for "Most Valuable Organizer" will then be voted on by attendees to select a winner.

Dueling bus rallies travel Iowa for judge retention vote

National conservative groups rolled out the "Judge Bus" tour on Monday. They plan to visit 45 counties over four days urging Iowans to vote 'no' on retaining the justices up for retention who supported the freedom to marry in Iowa. Meanwhile, supporters of the three judges will launch their own tour, "Homegrown Justice". They will also organize bus stops throughout the state countering the conservative voices.

Today (Tuesday, Oct. 12), gay-rights activists will meet in Salt Lake City to ask Elder Boyd K. Packer, president of the Mormon Church’s Quorum of Twelve Apostles, that he correct his inaccurate and dangerous statements calling same-sex attraction “impure and unnatural,” claiming that it can be corrected and characterizing the freedom to marry for same-sex couples as immoral.

Evan Wolfson ’78, founder and executive director of Freedom to Marry, and Maggie Gallagher ’82, former president of the National Organization for Marriage, joined about 250 students and guests in Sudler Hall for a YPU debate titled “Resolved: Same-Sex Couples Should be Allowed to Marry.”
