Yesterday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago said that he would be pushing hard for a bill in the Illinois legislature that would extend the freedom to marry to same-sex couples in Illinois. He published a letter explaining that "the time is right" for a legislative push for marriage in Illinois,
New poll in Illinois shows growth in support for the freedom to marry

A new poll conducted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University finds that support for the freedom to marry among people in Illinois has grown significantly over the past two years. The institute's data shows that 43.6 percent of respondents said they support marriage for same-sex couples.
