French Prime Minister says government will introduce marriage bill in October

Jean-Marc Ayrault, the Prime Minister of France, announced this weekend that his government will introduce a bill to end the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage in France, to the Parliament this fall.

Vietnam to discuss legislation providing the freedom to marry

Officials from Vietnam's Justice ministry announced plans to consider the freedom to marry on Sunday. The Justice ministry will have until May to draft a proposal where the National Assembly will need to grant majority approval during their spring congress for the proposal to become a law.

Sports lover and Olympic Torch bearer Chris Basiurski, 33, was cheered on by crowds just 28 hours before the Olympic flame's arrival to London's lighting ceremony on Thursday. Just moments before he carried the flame through the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Basiurski kissed his long-term boyfriend, drawing applause and smiles from bystanders.

On Wednesday, Scotland's Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon made an announcement that Scotland could soon have the freedom to marry, which would make it the first country in the United Kingdom. Proposing that a draft marriage bill come forward later this year, Scotland's National Party announced that ceremonies could take place start 2015.
