Today, the Indiana Senate voted to move forward with only the first sentence of HJR-3, the proposed ban on same-sex couples from marrying. That means that the amendment will not be on the ballot this November. It's a big win and a big step forward in the state.

This evening, January 22, the Indiana House Committee on Elections and Apportionment voted 9-3 to advance HJR-3 to a full floor vote in the House of Representatives. The vote means HJR-3 is one step closer to passage, and the full House will consider the bill soon.

Yesterday, October 28, a key Hawaii committee voted to advance a bill to extend the freedom to marry to same-sex couples in Hawaii. The Senate Judiciary and Labor Committee voted 5-2 to send the bill to the full Senate, where a vote is expected this week.
