The editorial board of the Maine newspaper writes, "We support this move to legalize gay marriage in Maine. And we do so for the very same reasons we supported gay marriage in Massachusetts six years ago. Our reasoning now is the same as it was then, and we see no reason to reinvent our arguments." (Link)

Equality Maine has collected more than 33,000 signatures that it will send to state lawmakers in support of marriage for gay couples. In response to the call for marriage equality in Maine, the newly-formed Maine Marriage Alliance is pushing for an anti-gay marriage amendment. [Link]

An initiative campaign to repeal Maine's gay rights law and put in place roadblocks to equal marriage and adoptions is being abandoned, leaders of the campaign said Thursday, for lack of support. (Link)
