On Oct. 10, 2008, the Connecticut Supreme Court legalized marriage for same-sex couples, and since then an estimated 2,500 gay and lesbian couples have traveled here to be joined, generating what one economist calculates has been a $40 million stimulus for restaurants, hotels, wedding photographers and caterers.

The anti-marriage equality National Organization for Marriage filed federal court lawsuits in Florida, New York and Rhode Island challenging the states’ campaign finance laws.
The organization has cited the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment to void restrictions on political advertising and campaign-finance disclosure laws in the three states.

Despite some claims that there is almost a 2/3rds majority of support for writing discrimination into its constitution, town by town, New Hampshire said "No" to this obviously coordinated movement to strip the rights away from some of its tax-paying, patriotic citizens.

Equality wins the popular vote with seventy towns having already rejected the anti-gay resolution.
“Once again the people of New Hampshire have spoken and said we believe in equality and individual liberties and we do not believe in amending our constitution to take away peoples rights” said Mo Baxley , Executive Director of New Hampshire Freedom to Marry.
NH House rejects anti-gay marriage measures

New Hampshire's House has rejected a bill that would have repealed the state's gay marriage law. The House voted 210-109 to kill the bill. And a second measure to define marriage as between a man and a woman was also defeated by a wide margin.
