This month, Freedom to Marry is teaming up with Marriage Equality USA to harness the energy of marriage advocates in New York City and help make the case for marriage in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington, where marriage for same-sex couples will be on the ballot on Election Day.

At the end of the month, nearly a dozen musical acts, including fun., will join together in New York City for the Freedom to Love Now! concert. In addition to fun., the concert event will feature superstar performers like Rufus Wainwright, They Might Be Giants, and The National. All of the proceeds from the October 30 event will benefit Freedom to Marry.
Two Republican Senators who voted for marriage in New York win primary battles

In the New York State primaries this month, two Republican Senators who voted to approve the freedom to marry last year won their primary battles. Our opponents said they would defeat all of the Republicans who stood up for committed same-sex couples, but their failure shows that supporting the freedom to marry is not a political risk.
Musician dedicates wedding song to NY couple Chris and Carl for Freedom to Marry

As a wedding gift to her friends Chris and Carl, Lindsay Katt wrote and recorded "My Home," a song about the love they've shared for ten years. She produced a slideshow with the song and screened it during the wedding, and now the song is available on iTunes and other music distribution sites. All of the funds raised from "My Home" will be donated to Freedom to Marry. Read our Q&A with Lindsay!

After working hard on the campaign to pass the freedom to marry in New York last summer, when they contributed their story to Freedom to Marry's video series on why marriage matters to New Yorkers, George and Farid were excited and relieved to finally marry and have their relationship formally respected by the state.
Richard and John: Finally married after 62 years

Remember Richard Door and John Mace? They met at the Juliard School of Music in 1948 and have been a couple since 1950, making Manhattan their home. Last year, they joined Freedom to Marry in making the case to the New York State Senate to pass the marriage bill. And now after 62 years, Richard and John have finally married in New York!
New York City councilman Jimmy Van Bramer marries partner of 13 years

This weekend, wedding bells rang for Jimmy Van Bramer and Dan Hendrick, Queens residents who have been together for 13 years. Van Bramer, who has lived in Queens his entire life, has served on the New York City Council since 2009. The couple married on Saturday night in Long Island City.
