Today, the Buncombe County Register of Deeds in North Carolina, Drew Reisinger, began accepting applications from same-sex couples for marriage licenses, saying that he would formally request approval for granting the licenses from the NC Attorney General, Roy Cooper. This week, the Register of Deeds in Guilford County in Greensboro, North Carolina rejected marriage applications from two same-sex couples and issued a statement lamenting the anti-gay law in NC, saying, "I look forward to the day when I will be able to issue marriage licenses to LGBT couples."
