Today, the attorneys for the American Foundation for Equal Rights, AFER, filed a brief in their Hollingsworth v. Perry case asking the United States Supreme Court to overturn Proposition 8 and restore the freedom to marry in California.

Today, the Supreme Court of the United States released the schedule of oral arguments for the 2013 session. The schedule indicates that the Court will hear the challenge to Proposition 8 on Tuesday, March 26, and a challenge to DOMA on Wednesday, March 27.

Kevin and Tony are thrilled that they were able to host a happy ceremony in August - and that their first date nearly five years ago represented the last Valentine's Day they'd spend alone. But they know that marriage matters - and that Proposition 8 must be overturned so that same-sex couples can stop seeing their relationships relegated to a lesser status than marriage.

Yesterday, Freedom to Marry founder and president Evan Wolfson published an editorial in The New York Times where he encouraged advocates of ending the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage to keep focusing on creating a climate for the Supreme Court to rule in our favor.

Mignon Moore and Elaine Harley have been together for 10 years, after meeting in 2002. This summer, they married in New York and celebrated in Mexico - and now they're waiting for Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act to to be overturned so they can finally, universally, give the world a clear picture of their love and commitment for each other.

The U.S. Supreme Court has announced that it will consider whether or not it will review federal constitutional challenges to two marriage cases - the Proposition 8 case in California and one or more of the challenges facing the so-called Defense of Marriage Act - at its private conference on Tuesday, November 20.

This week, Minnesotans United for All Families, the coalition working to defeat a proposed constitutional amendment in Minnesota that would permanently limit the freedom to marry for same-sex couples, released a new video featuring former Proposition 8 supporter David Blankenhorn speaking out against the amendment.

On Friday, Ted Olson, David Boies, and the other lawyers representing the gay and lesbian plaintiffs in Perry v. Brown, the court case challenging the constitutionality of Proposition 8 in California, filed a petition asking the U.S. Supreme Court not to review the case.

This morning, David Blankenhorn, who was presented as a key witness opposing the freedom to marry in California's Proposition 8 trial, wrote a piece in The New York Times expressing that he now supports marriage for same-sex couples.
