Polls in Maine are statistically deadlocked at present. There is no illusion of easy victory. If you live in Maine, register to vote early, if you live in the region, consider volunteering, and everyone else, if you can, consider contributing to the effort. Jack and Rose Dougherty went to St. Rafael's Church in Kittery, ME last Sunday, armed with petitions spearheaded by Catholics for Marriage Equality. They also put a note in the basket during the second collection stating they did not support the church's opposition to Maine's freedom to marry law. [Link]

Stand for Marriage Maine, the campaign to repeal Maine's marriage equality law, began airing its first radio and TV ads backing Question 1 on September 15th. NO on 1/Protect Maine Equality points out the ads' messages are "nothing more than deception and scare tactics." [Link]
