Today, Freedom to Marry, EqualityMaine, Courage Campaign, GLAD, Maine Women's Lobby and the ACLU of Maine hand delivered over 2,300 signatures from Senator Susan Collins' constituents asking her to cosponsor the Respect for Marriage Act.

It's been two months since we launched our campaign asking Senator Bob Casey to cosponsor the Respect for Marriage Act, and after receiving 2,400+ constituent signatures and stories from folks around the state, he's remaining silent. So today, Freedom to Marry, Equality PA, and Courage Campaign are launching our "Tell Casey to Commit" campaign.

Freedom to Marry is joining with six state and national organizations to call on Senator Lieberman (I-CT) and Senator Collins (R-ME) to cosponsor the Respect for Marriage Act.

On Thursday morning, the Senate Judiciary Committee will begin mark-up and debate on the Respect for Marriage Act, the bill that will overturn DOMA.

Nearly one month ago, Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) said he would decide "very quickly" whether or not he would cosponsor the Respect for Marriage Act. But after we delivered hundreds of constituent signatures to his office over a week ago, we're still waiting.

Today, Senator Carl Levin announced that he will become the 31st Senate sponsor of the Respect for Marriage Act, the bill that will overturn the so-called Defense of Marriage Act.
