Freedom to Marry bids farewell to Tim Sweeney

Last week, Freedom to Marry wished a fond farewell to Tim Sweeney, who has served on the board of Freedom to Marry since the campaign's inception in 2002 and launch in 2003. We applaud the lifelong advocate for the incredible impact he has left so far on the LGBT movement.

This year, Tim Sweeney will be stepping down from the Freedom to Marry board - as well as from his full-time position as President and CEO of the Gill Foundation. We applaud the lifelong advocate for the incredible impact he has left so far on the LGBT movement and the campaign to win marriage nationwide.
Freedom to Marry welcomes Diane Abbitt and Jennifer Cast as board members

This week, Freedom to Marry announced two new additions to our growing boards of directors. Former Amazon.com Vice President and community volunteer Jennifer Cast of Seattle and Equality California founder, political activist and lawyer Diane Abbitt.

Christopher Dryer from the Youth Pride Alliance talks to Michael and gets his opinion on challenges facing the LGBT community and how individuals can be a part of the movement.

This week, Dan Savage launched "Straight Up Thanks," a great new Tumblr designed to acknowledge and applaud the straight people who stood up and fought for the freedom to marry in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington.
Freedom to Marry goes purple for Spirit Day!

Today is Spirit Day, an annual day when millions of Americans wear purple as a symbol of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans people across the country. Freedom to Marry is joining hundreds of organizations and public figures in taking a stand against bullying by wearing purple and going purple on Facebook.
