Alec Baldwin is an American actor who has appeared on film, stage, and television. He currently stars as Jack Donaghy on the NBC sitcom "30 Rock".
In a May 2009 Huffington Post piece, Mr. Baldwin expressed his support for the freedom to marry while debunking some of the anti-gay side's arguments against marriage equality.

John Mellencamp is an American rock singer-songwriter, musician, painter and occasional actor known for his catchy, populist brand of heartland rock. In October of 2010, Mr. Mellencamp objected to the use of his recording of "Pink Houses" by the National Organization for Marriage at one of their anti-marriage equality rallies because he is a supporter of the freedom to marry.

Actress Cynthia Nixon - a Freedom to Marry Voice for Equality - took issue with that viewpoint and rebutted in one of the more poignant moments of an emotionally charged afternoon.

A Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner granted Freedom to Marry Voice for Equality, Portia de Rossi's request to take the last name of her partner during a closed hearing Thursday. The television star will now legally be known as Portia Lee James DeGeneres.
