In the August 27, 2010 entry of his Journal in the "Chicago Sun-Times", film critic Roger Ebert makes a case for the freedom to marry by telling a personal story of his mother supporting a lesbian couple in their desire to get married back in the 1970s: "Public opinion is perceived to be shifting on the topic [marriage equality]. It seems odd to me that on this issue, Barack Obama is more conservative than Dick Cheney, George Bush and my mother."

Stacy Ann Ferguson, better known by her stage name Fergie, is an American singer-songwriter, rapper, fashion designer and actress. She was a member of the children's television series "Kids Incorporated," and the girl group Wild Orchid. Ferguson was also a co-host of the television show "Great Pretenders." She is the female vocalist for the hip hop/pop group the Black Eyed Peas, as well as a solo artist, having released her debut album, The Dutchess, in September 2006. The album spawned five Billboard Hot 100 Top 5 singles (three of which went to number one).

In a July 2010 interview with New Music Express speaking about President Obama, she stated, "He's a great speaker and I myself got to go to the White House," she said. "But I wish he would do more for marriage equality. That's the one thing I want to happen!"

Gayle King is editor-at-large for "O, The Oprah Magazine" and is the best friend of Oprah Winfrey. She has previously worked as a television news anchor and talk show host. King was also instrumental in the planning and creation of the Legends Weekend. In September 2006, King began to host "The Gayle King Show" on XM Satellite Radio.

On her radio show on Friday, July 9, 2010, King expressed her support for marriage equality and the previous day's marriage ruling in Massachusetts.

Ruffalo has also appeared as a romantic leading man in "13 Going on 30" (2004), "Just Like Heaven" (2005) and "Rumor Has It" (2005).

In a July 2, 2010 interview with Fox News' Pop Tarts blog, Ruffalo, starring in "The Kids Are All Right", expressed his support for the freedom to marry and for non-traditional family parenting.

Scott Stringer is a New York Democratic politician and the current Borough President of Manhattan. In 2005, he entered the race to succeed C. Virginia Fields as Manhattan Borough President. On September 13, 2005, he won the Democratic primary against 9 other candidates and was later elected in the November general election. He took office as Borough President on January 1, 2006.

In July of 2010, Mr. Stringer and his fiancée, Elyse Buxbaum, announced they would wed in Connecticut in what they described as a protest of New York’s failure to legalize the freedom to marry.
