With less than a week before Election Day, when voters in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington will decide on ballot measures concerning the freedom to marry, more newspapers than ever are speaking out for marriage for same-sex couples by officially endorsing the freedom to marry.

In the 2011-2012 election cycle, when four states have been gearing up for months for marriage-related ballot initiatives at the polls, we've seen more people of faith than ever speaking out in support of the freedom to marry. The past few weeks have brought out even more support for marriage among people of faith in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington.
Northwest NAACP asks Washington residents to approve Ref. 74

The Northwest chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) officially endorsed the freedom to marry in Washington state last week by asking residents to vote to APPROVE Referendum 74.
President Obama supports marriage, opposes discrimination in ballot campaigns

Today, a spokesperson for the Obama campaign issued a statement about the president's support for the ballot campaigns to win marriage in Maine, Maryland, and Washington. The campaign has already spoken out against a ballot measure in Minnesota.

Today, apparel retailer Nordstrom announced their support for the freedom to marry by officially endorsing Washington United for Marriage, the coalition of pro-marriage organizations working to uphold the freedom to marry by approving Referendum 74 at the ballot on November 6.
On the Ground Running: My Volunteer Vacation in WA

Working to win marriage every day from Freedom to Marry's New York City office has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, but there's nothing like being on the front lines of a state campaign. Two weeks ago, with a historic election looming and several vacation days to use up before the end of the year, I took a Volunteer Vacation through United for Marriage and traded in my communications hat for a stab at field organizing.
