This month, Patricia Todd, the first openly gay legislator in Alabama, married her partner of eight years, Jennifer Clarke, in a ceremony in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Since 2006, Patricia Todd has been serving in the Alabama House of Representatives.

Nikki and Sue had a beautiful ceremony promising commitment to each other in Hawaii - but it was frustrating to see that no matter how gorgeous their day was, their commitment is not legally respected by the state of Hawaii. And when they returned home to New Jersey, too, they knew that they would continue to be viewed as single.

It's been a big summer for Megan and Marlee Malone-Franklin. After hosting a gorgeous commitment ceremony and blessing in May - then watching as the Supreme Court restored the freedom to marry in CA and struck down the central part of DOMA - they finally obtained a marriage license this month.

The Peace Corps' policy change, which allows same-sex couples to serve together as volunteers, was personal for Shari Quan, who served in rural Uganda. She and her partner, Elisabeth Halliday, are planning their wedding, and the policy change has opened up the possibility of the women serving together without being separated.
