As the trial over California's prohibition on the freedom to marry enters its final stage today, the ban's sponsors are urging the judge to go a step further and revoke state recognition of the existing marriages of 18,000 gay and lesbian couples who wed before voters passed Proposition 8.

In honor of the passage of the DC Marriage Equality Act, a group of prominent Washington-area wedding vendors have teamed up to offer a same sex couple the wedding of a lifetime, valued at over $100,000.
The first of its kind – Freedom2Wed – is an online wedding competition for same sex couples.

In response to Rush Limbaugh's fourth wedding over the weekend, web site Gawker.com hired a plane to fly over the wedding site towing a banner that read "Rush: Congrats on your 4th marriage. XO, Gawker."
The message on the banner was chosen from suggestions made by readers which included: "This time he really means it," "Wishing you months of bliss," and the ironic freedom to marry angle: "Congrats on #4 from those of us who can't have 1."

A lesbian couple wed Monday in Portugal's first ceremony for a same-sex couple since the predominantly Catholic country introduced a law honoring the freedom to marry last month.
