Gay candidates for Congress draw interest, hope

Just three of the 535 members of Congress are openly gay, but two candidates hope to inch that number up to five this year: David Cicilline, who is running to succeed fellow Democrat Patrick Kennedy in Rhode Island, and Democrat Steve Pougnet, who's trying to knock Republican Mary Bono Mack out of her seat in California.

Three of the Supreme Court justices who struck down an Ohio state law denying the freedom to marry are facing "retention votes" this year, and conservatives are using the ruling against them.
The targeting of the Iowa justices has brought together a group of distinguished legal scholars and jurists who have spoken out in support of the beleaguered justices, among them Sandra Day O’Connor.

In reaction to the National Organization for Marriage using their recording of "This Land Is Your Land" on its so-called "Summer for Marriage Tour", the remaining members of Peter, Paul & Mary sent a letter of protest to NOM: "...the philosophy of the National Organization for Marriage is directly contrary to the advocacy position Peter, Paul & Mary have held for decades."
