Jordan Roth and Richie Jackson launch $100,000 matching grant for Freedom to Marry

This year, we have shown over and over again that we are on the Right Side of History - we've won marriage at the ballot in Maine, Maryland, and Washington, defeated a discriminatory constitutional amendment in Minnesota, seen vocal support from President Obama and the Democratic Party, and elected a pro-marriage president for the first time ever.
As we continue celebrating our momentous victories in 2012, we're looking to the future to continue to move marriage forward in 2013. Together, we know that we can be on the Right Side of History by winning more states, ending federal marriage discrimination, and growing the majority of Americans who support the freedom to marry for same-sex couples.
Now, you can make even more of an impact by donating - every donation from now until December 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 by Freedom to Marry board member Jordan Roth and his husband Richie Jackson.
Earlier this year, award-winning Broadway producer and theater owner Jordan Roth and television producer Richie Jackson celebrated their own amazing marriage in New York. Today, they've announced a $100,000 matching grant so that all same-sex couples in the nation can share in the freedom to marry the person they love.
Jordan, who serves as the president of Jujamcyn Theaters and has accepted Tony Awards for his productions The Book of Mormon, Jersey Boys, and Clybourne Park, reflected on the generous matching grant today. He said:
Richie and I are deeply honored to support Freedom to Marry's groundbreaking work across the country. We know our own wedding this year wouldn't have happened without it. After the remarkable year we've had celebrating the victories of marriage equality and our own marriage, it is a unique privilege to be able to jumpstart the efforts to support Freedom to Marry's critical work ahead.
Freedom to Marry founder and president Evan Wolfson thanked Jordan and Richie for their generous support. He said:
The unwavering support of Jordan and Richie - and others who step up year after year - fuels the campaign we need to take the momentum we've built and turn it into next year's triumphs. With four for four ballot measure victories teeing up more states to win in 2013, and the clock ticking on a possible Supreme Court marriage case in the coming year, our supporters know they are not just on the Right Side of History, but part of making it happen.
