Contest Rules
THE 7 CONVERSATIONS IN 7 DAYS YOUTUBE VIDEO CONTEST, SPONSORED BY FREEDOM TO MARRY
People all around the country are using every tool possible to talk to their friends, family, and community about why marriage equality is important to them. Here’s your chance to make your voice heard!
Grab a camera and make a short video about why marriage matters to you. Add it to the Freedom to Marry YouTube Group Page. Then share it with all of your friends and encourage them to vote for your video.

1st and 2nd Place winners get $1,000 and $500.
The new deadline to upload is March 31, 2009.
How The Contest Works
1) Create a great 30 second to five minute video about why gay people should be able to marry.
2) By 11:59PM on March 31, 2009 post your video to our group contest page at http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=FreedomToMarry&view=groups
3.) Submit your information via our contact form at http://www.freedomtomarry.org/contest
4) During the Preliminary Round (now through 11:59pm on March 31) encourage all of your friends and family to vote for your video. Recommended ways to get the word out about your video include e-blasts, status updates on Twitter and Facebook, posting your video on social networking pages and websites, and partnering with bloggers or social networking sites to get them to promote your video.
4) Selection Process: The Top 5 Videos with the most votes are automatically considered for the Semi-Finalist round, provided they meet all Contest Guidelines regarding length and content. An additional 5 videos will be selected by a panel of judges.
5) During the Semi-Finalist Round voting for the 10 Semi-Finalist videos will be held.
6) To vote simply rate the videos that you like. You can vote on as many videos as you want to.

THE PRIZE
• Cash prizes – 1st place winner receives $1,000 and the 2nd place winner receives $500.
• Promotion of Semi-Finalist videos to state-wide marriage organizations and other LGBT organizations.
• Meetings with LGBT advocates and media.
• Media coverage of winning entries.
• 1st and 2nd Place entries will be submitted to Logo and other appropriate television networks.
THE DETAILS
• You must be 18 or older to enter.
• Videos can be any style: fiction, documentary, animated, experimental or live action.
• Videos cannot be longer than five minutes long.
• Videos must be at least 30 seconds long.
• Videos must be in English or have English subtitles.
• Contestants may not enter anonymously.
• Contestants must be U. S. residents.
• Employees of Freedom to Marry are not eligible to compete in the contest.
