On July 8, 2010, a federal judge handed down a historic ruling, striking a blow at federal marriage discrimination and holding the so-called "Defense of Marriage Act" (DOMA) unconstitutional. The victory won by Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) in Gill v. Office of Personnel Management is an important step on the road to winning marriage nationwide.
