Maryland House Members Testify for Marriage

Last Friday, a day after the Senate passed the state's marriage bill, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the measure, HB 175. A debate and vote in committee are set for tomorrow, and if passed then the measure will be debated and voted on by the full House.

Supporters who testified in favor of the bill at Friday's hearing included half a dozen gay House members. They know firsthand what it means to not be able to marry the person they love in their home state just because they're gay. Del. Heather Mizeur (D) spoke with her wife sitting right behind her (the couple got married in California).
