The APA passed a resolution last night reaffirming its support of the freedom to marry and calling for an end to marriage discrimination.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius: “Basic human rights—such as your ability to choose your own support system in a time of need—must not be checked at the door of America’s hospitals. Today’s rules help give ‘full and equal’ rights to all of us to choose whom we want by our bedside when we are sick, and override any objection by a hospital or staffer who may disagree with us for any non-clinical reason.”

Today (Tuesday, Oct. 12), gay-rights activists will meet in Salt Lake City to ask Elder Boyd K. Packer, president of the Mormon Church’s Quorum of Twelve Apostles, that he correct his inaccurate and dangerous statements calling same-sex attraction “impure and unnatural,” claiming that it can be corrected and characterizing the freedom to marry for same-sex couples as immoral.
