The three nominees who have received the highest number of online votes for "Most Valuable Organizer" will then be voted on by attendees to select a winner.

After having helped to secure the freedom to marry in D.C., and now working to do the same nationally at Freedom to Marry, Michael Crawford is a person the LGBT community can be proud of.
Story Leads to Action screening of ‘The Campaign’ Thursday at 92Y Tribeca

The last Story Leads to Action screening of spring will be "The Campaign," a feature documentary-in-progress that rides the daily emotional rollercoaster of the community of people-turned-activists who worked to defeat Proposition 8 in California.
Filmmaker Christie Herring was granted exclusive access to the "No on 8" campaign headquarters in San Francisco. Christie will be flying in from San Francisco to screen her work-in-progress for advocates, educators and activists who care about these issues in NYC and the Tri-State area. A discussion panel will include Freedom to Marry's Director of New Media, Michael Crawford.

Despite the clear harm that DOMA causes to gay and lesbian families and President Obama’s stated support for repealing DOMA, the Department of Justice has issued court briefs defending federal marriage discrimination. Tell President Obama to uphold his promise to end federal marriage discrimination and dump DOMA.

When D.C. Councilmember and Georgetown alum David Catania (I-At Large, SFS ‘90, LAW ‘94) gave a speech at Georgetown in March of last year, he talked about marriage equality as an “undying civil rights” issue that he hoped to make progress on. What a difference a year makes: Yesterday, Catania was back on campus, discussing the successful freedom to marry legalization bill he sponsored and the role race and religion played in the fight for marriage equality in the District.

People of color and people of faith are often charged with blocking lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights. But DC's recent marriage equality victory showed that organizing people of color and people of faith was crucial.
Two panels - one at Georgetown University and another at Howard University - will examine the role race and faith played in securing marriage equality in Washington, D.C.
