Supporters of a New Mexico domestic partnership bill rallied at the State Capitol Monday in an attempt to win over legislators who are undecided on the issue. The bill passed in the House of Representatives in 2009, failing in the Senate by only a handful of votes. [Link] See video below:

Gov. Bill Richardson (D-N.M.) will try again to get the New Mexico Legislature to pass a bill establishing domestic partnerships. Equality New Mexico says the fate of the bill is "contingent on a successful conversation with the Catholic Church." [Link]

A New Mexico domestic partnerships bill failed in the state's Senate Judiciary Committee on a tie vote Monday. The bill "technically remains alive," and Gov. Bill Richardson says he will work to get it passed. [Link]

A proposal that would allow domestic partnerships in N.M. won approval in a Senate committee Wednesday. The bill is now being sent to another panel for consideration, then will head to the full Senate for debate if it is approved by the Judiciary Committee, which could vote on it later this week.
