Today, February 13, Equality Alabama filed a "friend-of-the-court" brief with the Alabama Supreme Court urging the Court to dismiss two private organizations' Emergency Petition for Writ of Mandamus regarding the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Alabama.

The latest in a landmark string of court victories for the freedom to marry came today, November 25, from Mississippi, where a federal judge has ruled the state's constitutional amendment denying the freedom to marry to same-sex couples unconstitutional.

Today, October 3, Missouri Circuit Court Judge J. Dale Youngs ruled that marriages between same-sex couples legally performed in other states must be respected in Missouri.

This week, Freedom to Marry and the Human Rights Campaign sent a joint letter to United States Attorney General Eric Holder urging the Department of Justice to act now and ensure that the marriages of same-sex couples performed earlier this year in Arkansas, Indiana, and Wisconsin are respected by the federal government.
