Today, Marylanders for Marriage Equality released a new radio spot urging listeners to support the freedom to marry at the ballot. Freedom to Marry invested $100,000 in the Vote For 6 campaign to support the airing of the new advertisement and a previously announced radio spot featuring NAACP Chairman Emeritus Julian Bond.

In President Barack Obama's speech accepting the Democratic nomination for president, which closed the Democratic National Convention, he continued discussing LGBT issues in what amounts to a historic level of visibility for the LGBT community at a convention for a major U.S. political party.

Yesterday, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and 83 additional members of Congress sent a letter to the Obama administration urging the President to take formal action on a statement he made last year about working to protect binational same-sex couples.

At a speech in Baltimore yesterday, President Barack Obama spoke out against anti-gay activists who are working to overturn the freedom to marry in Maryland. He urged voters to uphold marriage for same-sex couples at the ballot this November.

A new poll from The Washington Post and ABC demonstrates that a majority of black Americans now support the freedom to marry, with 59 percent of black respondents saying they agree with the President.

This afternoon, at the Barnard College graduation ceremony, President Barack Obama will receive the Barnard Medal of Distinction, the school's highest honor, which is also being presented to Freedom to Marry's Founder and President Evan Wolfson.
