8 members of ‘The Out List’ speak out about marriage and acceptance
June 18, 2013
This month, on Thursday, June 27, HBO Documentaries will debut The Out List, a documentary by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders that explores LGBTQ identity in the United States. The film features various figures from the LGBTQ community - activists, celebrities, writers, and members of the U.S. military. Previously, Greenfield-Sanders, a photographer and director, was behind The Black List and The Latino List, working to present a diverse portrait of what it meant to be black or Latino in America. Now, he presents an equally intimate and fascinating portrait of the LGBTQ community.
The production team explains more about the film: "Through this series of intimate interviews, LGBT personalities both known and unknown bring color and depth to their experiences of sexuality, gender expression, and identity. ... The subjects in The Out List are celebrated not just for being 'out' and visible in their own lives, but because they share a sense of responsibility for the struggle of a greater community and for the betterment of future generations."
