A Freedom to Marry Postcard from Africa

As recounted on Postcards from Africa:

"On Sunday night, Emily and I joined RainbowUCT in a moonlight hike up Lion’s Head.  We reunited with a few of our Madison friends, celebrating our first month in Cape Town, the LGBTQ community, and the full moon.  We started the climb at 7:30, just as sunlight melted into the horizon and the pink moon rose above the city.

The rainbow flag flew high above the glowing city lights of Cape Town. “Cheers” to the man in the moon, the people I love, the passing of time, and the passing of laws.  To my friends fighting heterosexism, homophobia, and gender identity oppression in the States, I blow you a kiss.  Stand in the wind, and you’ll catch it."
