Established Gay-Rights Groups and Grassroots Marriage Activists Working Toward Common Goal

As Eve Conant reports in Newsweek, modes of communication and the approach to lawsuits are two areas where there are differences of opinion within the freedom to marry movement. But as Freedom to Marry founder, Evan Wolfson, puts it:

"Making the case of who gay people are, why marriage matters, and why denial hurts people and helps no one [is the key to success along with focused lawsuits]...I'm as eager to win as anyone, but an important element of winning is just that—winning...Twitter and Facebook and new ways of reaching people, crucial as they are, do not replace other ways. We also still have to win votes and lobby legislators and win court cases."
