Lush Supports the Freedom to Marry
June 13, 2011
Today, Freedom to Marry is excited to announce our partnership with LUSH Cosmetics on a new campaign to show why marriage discrimination needs to be washed away.
LUSH employees made this video to tell why the freedom to marry matters to them:
“We believe in the freedom to marry and the 1,138 rights that come along with it…We believe in speaking up for social change and ensuring that all people are respected fairly and equally under the Constitution…We believe that love belongs to everybody.”
From now until June 26th, LUSH shops in North America are “campaign centers” where people can learn about why marriage matters to same-sex couples and their families, sign postcards calling on members of Congress to repeal DOMA, and buy Freedom Foamer — a limited-edition bubble bar scented with fresh lime and grapefruit —the proceeds of which are contributed to Freedom to Marry.
On Saturday, June 18, LUSH invites you to “Kiss and Tell” why you support marriage for all loving couples. Couples, straight and gay, will gather at LUSH stores at 11:38 am for some good clean fun and to take a stand for the freedom to marry. Why 11:38? Because there are at least 1,138 responsibilities and protections denied to legally married same-sex couples under DOMA.
